Position Available for 2022-2023 School Year

 

Position Summary:  Assistant Track Coach - Pole Vault ~ Westside High School

 

Reports to:  This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.

 
DESCRIPTION: 
Instruct student athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, rules, and physical training needed for individual and team success in track, specifically the pole vault. Promote participation, self-confidence, work ethic, and good sportsmanship in each student involved. 
       
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport, pole vault. 
  • Ability to obtain current CPR / First Aid when applicable. 
  • Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complies with department / district policies. 
  • Maintains consistent communication with Athletic Director 
  • Develop positive self image with athletics 
  • Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills / techniques. 
  • Demonstrate public support / loyalty for coaches. 
  • Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials. 
  • Demonstrates effective management of pre-contest details. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. 


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds. 
  • Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. 
  • Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
