POSITION: Certified Athletic Trainer - Half-time

DESCRIPTION:  
This position would include working with athletes, coaches and parents through the recognition, prevention, care, and treatment of athletic injuries. This individual would work in conjunction with the head athletic trainer to facilitate coverage for athletic practices and games at the high school. 


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports directly to the Athletic Director. 
       
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bacholor's degree or higher
  • Must possess and maintain National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) status.
  • Must be licensed in Nebraska to practice. First Aid/CPR/AED certified.     


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complies with department / district policies. 
  • Maintains consistent communication with Athletic Director. 
  • Practice prevention of athletic injuries through application of protective taping, wraps and braces to student athletes. 
  • Evaluate athletics injuries and perform necessary First Aid; ensure proper preventative and safety measures for the transport of injured athletes by appropriate conveyance.
  • Maintain certification and licensure through continuing education. 
  • Make recommendations to parents regarding medical care related to student athlete injuries, illnesses or conditions. 
  • Maintain accurate, current and complete records of accidents, injuries and treatments involving student athletes. 
  • Provide follow-up treatment and rehabilitation of injured athletes, under the direction of the treating physician, using approved treatment modalities, such as whirlpoos guards, electrical stimulation, braces, ultrasound and splints.
  • Ensure the efficient organization of rehab equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Athletic Director. 


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds. 
  • Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. 
  • Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
