Position Summary:   Part-Time English Learner Educational Assistant

Requirements:

• Educational level: High School diploma or GED
• Must possess the ability to read, write, understand and speak English.
• Leadership skills:  Effective communicator and strong human relation skills.
• Goal of Position:  To improve classroom success of English Learners in content areas and in the domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

Reports to English Language Learner Teacher/ Classroom Teacher/ Building Principal

Essential Functions:

• Assists English Learner students in following directions of  the EL teacher of classroom teacher.
• Assists in communicating with parents and families.
• Assists EL students with classroom assignments.
• Assists the EL teacher and classroom teacher in preparation of instructional materials.
• Assists the EL or classroom teacher in individual and small group activities.
• Assists the EL teacher in checking progress of EL students.
• Assists with the supervision of students.
• Works independently performing tasks as needed.
• Preforms any other delegated tasks by the EL teacher, classroom teacher, or principal.

Note: Occasionally, educational assistants are asked to transfer to different buildings within the district due to fluctuations in the number of EL students at each school.
