POSITION: Head Cook; 7.5 hours per day

LOCATION: Westside Nutrition Services Contract Meal Kitchen and Warehouse
Job Summary
This position works with the Kitchen Manager and Contract Meal Manager to prepare, organize and deliver all meals to Westside Nutrition Services’s contracted sites as well as large scale production for both contracts and Westside Community Schools. Position is involved with oversight of all hot food production for daily and weekly needs, based on district and contract schedules and menus. Must be able to adjust production up and down according to daily ordering and updates. Must have an ability to maintain professionalism at all times. Must follow prescribed recipes in order to maintain consistent expectations and deliver meals and components in compliance with all USDA programs, specifically the National School Lunch Plan (NSLP), School Breakfast Plan (SBP) and all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Multiple Tasks Include but are not limited to:
- Food Storage, Inventory, Ordering, Preparation and Serving of food product in a fast paced multiple food service environments
- Assist in menu and production development
- Completion and management of daily production records
- Cleaning of kitchen and equipment as required
- Be able to carry cases of food, beverages, paper goods and prepared food
- Be able to use all kitchen equipment necessary for preparation of food
- Good hospitality and customer relation skills
- Ability to be self-directed and work with minimal supervision at times
- Ability to work with school staff, students and community
- Other duties as may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
- Ability to communicate well with others
- Ability to take direction from Management
- Knowledge and ability of cleaning kitchen and preparation of food
- Understanding of baking techniques
- Experience in a food service environment
PREFERRED
- Knowledge and understanding of the Federal School Breakfast and Lunch Program
- requirements and regulations including: Offer vs. Serve
- Qualifications for a reimbursable meal
- Knowledge of portion sizes and proper kitchen procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (ADA Compliance Regulations)
Be able to lift boxes or containers weighing up to 60lbs.
Be able to stand on feet to perform job responsibilities
Will train interested and qualified parties.
