POSITION: JV Cheer Coach ~ Westside High School
DESCRIPTION: Instruct student athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, rules, and physical training needed for individual and team success in cheer. Promote participation, self-confidence, work ethic, and good sportsmanship in each student involved.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports directly to the Athletic Director. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport.
- Ability to obtain current CPR / First Aid when applicable.
- Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Attending summer and school year practices / meetings
- Attending summer UCA / NCA camp
- Supervising cheerleaders at football, volleyball and basketball games
- Coordinating and supervising various philanthropy and fundraising events
- Helping prepare and supervise cheer tryouts in the spring
- Maintains consistent communication with Assistant Principals
- Complies with department / district policies
- Develop positive self image with athletics
- Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills / techniques.
- Demonstrate public support / loyalty for coaches.
- Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
